Morteza Shahmirzaei, an Iranian deputy oil minister, said on Monday that the number of Iran’s petrochemical complexes would increase from 70 to 108 facilities in the next five years.
Shahmirzaei said petrochemical complexes will be launched across Iran from border regions in northwest to Makran coastal regions in southeast of the country.
He said that Iran's petrochemical production was merely 1.5 million mt when the Islamic Revolution of 1979 happened, adding that the output has currently reached 93 million mt.
